First stage qualification is simple and takes place between May 1st and May 14th. All you need to do is rake as many hands as possible each day. Depending on the limits you play and how many raked hands you manage each day, you will earn a royalty status which then entitles you to play in the second stage knockout tournaments to win the cash prizes.
There are three stakes levels that you can qualify via: Micro, Low or Mid-High stakes. You can qualify in one or more of these stakes levels if you wish.
| Table Stakes | Stakes | Stakes |
|---|---|---|
| Fixed | NL/PL | |
| Micro | $0.02/$0.04 - $0.10/ $0.20 | $0.01/$0.02 - $0.05/ $0.10 |
| Low | $0.25/$0.50 - $1/$2 | $0.10/$0.20 - $0.50/$1.00 |
| Med-High | $2/$4 and up | $1/$2 and up |
Your rank is determined by how many raked hands you play each day and for how many days you sustain this amount of raked hands. Every rank above Officer guarantees you a cash prize!
You can qualify in more than one stakes level; just ensure that you have at least played the minimum number of daily raked hands for each level.
Example: Play 500 raked hands per day for 6 days to earn the “Earl” rank.
| Daily Raked Hands/ Days Played | 3 | 6 | 8 | 10 | 14 |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 50 | Soldier | Soldier | Officer | Officer | Officer |
| 200 | Officer | Officer | Earl | Earl | Duke |
| 500 | Officer | Earl | Duke | Duke | Prince |
| 1500 | Officer | Earl | Duke | Prince | King |
Once you have earned a rank, you are able to enter the corresponding King of the Ring tournament. The top third of players in the tournament will then progress to the next rank, where they will battle it out again to keep progressing one rank at a time until they are playing in the final Kings tournament.
Example: If you have earned the rank of Earl, you will battle the other Earls in a qualifier held on May 20th or 21st. You can choose to qualify through either an SNG (which begin on May 20th – May 21st) or one of the Scheduled Multi-Table Tournaments (MTTs) on May 21st (see table C below). 1 out of every 3 players in these SNG and MTT are promoted to Duke to battle for Prince and finally King!
